History of Bail Bonding
What is the origin and basis in the law for the bondsman's right to arrest a person admitted to bail pending trial - in Mr. Justice Holmes' phrase this "trace of the old relation" between accused and surety which still remains? It is bottomed on the common law principle that the accused is transferred to the friendly custody of his sureties and is at liberty only by their permission.

Bail Bond Process
In most states, a "bail bond agent" writes something like a "check" to the court, to the sheriff's office, or to the jail's "release window"... for the entire amount of the bail amount so the defendant can get out of jail. The cost of this process is only a small part of the bond (usually about 10% of each bond, or 15% of a federal bond. There are also special charges for immigration bonds.). However, if the defendant does not show up for court, the "bail bond agency" is then responsible for paying the entire amount of the defendant's bond to the court.

Tips for Posting Bond
First, the "bail bond agent" has to find out where the defendant is being held. If you are a family member or friend, please have the person's real name, and birth date ready. As it costs money to get the defendant out, have your credit card numbers ready to give to the "bail bond agent." Cash is taken at our office located at Brandy Bail Bonds, 916 S. Andrews, Ft Lauderdale, Fl. 33316.

How to Find the Defendant
The first step is to know the city or county the defendant was arrested or detained in. If you do not know, the "Bail Bond Agent" can find him or her. Or else you can go to these web sites: www.sheriff.org (for Broward County) if they were arrested in this country and find them. Follow the directions, put in the last name, and do a "search." After you have found the defendant, call us at: 1-877-463-4333, and Brandy Bail Bonds will assist you.

How Long Will it Take?
Brandy Bail Bond agents are the quickest, the most efficient, and the most educated bail bond agents in the United States. Brandy Bail Bonds, associated with Accredited Insurance Company use 'state-of-art' computer equipment and services to process all applications, credit cards, and deliver the necessary documents to get your friends and family released as quickly as possible. Then, it is up to the jail, or release center to take these documents (Power of Attorney) and release the defendant. How long it takes to release a defendant is often determined by how efficient the corrections officers are, and how many other people have been arrested before your friend or family member. Friday, Saturday, Sunday nights and holidays are usually very busy. Being realistic, in some counties it can be from four to 10 hours after the "bail bond agent" has delivered the documents to the release center. Therefore, calling us as soon as possible with the information will help the defendant get out of jail quicker.
Finding Your Court Date Using Your PIN (under construction, and soon to be completed): Brandy Bail Bonds is the only bail bond agency in the United States that has an e-mail Service, and an online notification where our clients can keep up to date regarding their court dates, and judges' name, sent to them and their attorneys online through e-mail. This backup system assists them in keeping their court dates and from missing their court dates, and possibly going to jail because of a "mix-up." All court dates are sent out in the mail, with a follow-up phone call made to the defendant.
